I bought a new Tag Heuer Aquaracer Chrono with battery powered movement approx 18 months ago - the battery has now gone & I'm just wondering if its worth paying to send it back to Tag for a battery replacement, or going for a cheaper option (H.Samuel will do it themselves and reseal it for £65)?

Has anyone gone for either option before, got any feedback or advice bow Thanks

If i remember correctly Goldsmiths, Samuels etc send them back to Tag anyway, price sounds about right only had 1 battery replaced in 13 years in my 2000 series was about £40 at the time think i may have to have it serviced next time it goes

80Q.

A cell replacement and re-seal is very straightforward any competent watchmaker should be able to do it. £65 to get an H.Samuel doesn't appear to be a good option.

Have a look here on the British Horological Institute website to find your nearest registered BHI watchmaker....

Hope this helps...

If you send it to Tag it is £50 to have a new battery and reseal. H.Samuals send them to Tag anyway, or they did when I asked last year.

Hmm.. H Samuel told me they have their 'own' people that do the battery replacements and the turnround is much quicker as the watch doesn't go back to tag..

I guess tag must do a service at the same time and you have to bear in mind their postage costs

Thanks for the advice so far!

Been reading through this forum for a while & had to reply to this. I have a Tag Aquaracer & have had it for 4years now. I had a new battery fitted & it resealed for £18 from my local Rolex dealer. £65 seems very expensive to me.
