£11k for this?!
Apologies if this is a repost.

Came across this on barryboys, and laughed my ass off. I really cant see what would make this car worth £11k, not only to mention the fact it seems to have done over 171k miles according to the speedo.

That is really quite an asking price considered how badly finished it is, I could almost understand if it was a really smartly finished car, but you can see a gap on the back where the VW badge was, and what is with the metal blanking plate in the dash? It looks so badly done, surely if you were buying a modified VW golf MkII, for 11 grand, I'd be expecting a turn key job!

Clearly well overpriced but it does have some very good parts fitted and has had a large amount of work done to it.

Even £4k though is getting a little too close to decent Rallye money though..

I know this is/was someone's pride and joy, but there's no way I'd pay £1100 for that, let alone £11,000.

First thing I'd do is boot that stupid front end off. Doesn't match the rest of the car at all. Also, it'll only look like that for about 6months then the wodges of filler used to flush all the panels will start to crack and fall off. tongue out

This is a prime example of the sad state that many tuners get themselves into - the belief that spending money makes a valuable car. I'd go with the bids above around £2.5k

That of course providing the body smoothing has been done properly, and to a high standard, rather than the more typical bit of fibreglass and a ton of bodyfiller flatted back to a wobbly halo edged mess.

It is a common delusion to value things by the cost/effort that you've put into them. Human nature, I suppose.

I'm sure reality will assert itself, for him, shortly.

Is "tuner" the new word for "clueless owner with poor taste"?
