I am looking at a Speed Six Cerbera and wanted to find out what the likelyhood is of the warantee paying up if the engine fails?

Has anyone had any experience of claiming after an engine failure? The car is a 2000 (W) so I assume that the factory won't do a rebuild FOC.

Any thoughts would be much appreciated.

Paul no disrespects but if you are worrying about the engine before you have purchased i would not go ahead.

The speed 6 is a great engine now but yes it did have its problems between 2000 and 2002 with valves and followers.

Warranty firms are very slippery ypu need a good dealer.

I have 2001 sp6 and its been fantastic but both valves and followers have failed. The dealer got both done with no questions asked.

Its all about luck of the draw as with all cars.

It's more trying to go into it with my eyes wide open, if I know the warrantee will not pay out then it won't upset me when / if it happens.

Read the small print of the warranty, it'll be different with every company.

Something like valve failure I don't see why it wouldn't be coveredd as long as it is serviced as reccomended and adjusted to suit. It's not general wear and tear. You may have a problem with the upper limit per claim though some can be restricted to £2K per claim and if the valve damages the block then you could exceed that!
