Hey guys, on my Mk1 98-01 1.4 Focus I have heard that removing the resonator can make it sound a little nicer. However upon opening the bonnet, i could locate the resonator i think but couldn't budge it.

Anyway, i opened the bonnet and unscrewed the airbox cover, disconnected the "pipe" and procedded trying to figure how to budge the tall box next to the airbox.

I took out the panel filter to see if there was anyway to remove it inside, but no luck.

So yeah, any help?
Or should i just leave it on and buy an open end air filter/cold air induction.

Thanks

Wouldn't bother to be honest, you wont notice the difference in sound. If you want noise get a cone filter but dont expect any difference performance wise or anything like that.

Best just leaving it.

I took the resonator of my ST170 and it made a fair difference to the noise.Don't see why it shouldn't work for the 1400.
ETA a fair bit of force was needed to get it of if remember
