Freaky wind in Maison Blanche..
Discussion
Was anyone hurt in the crazy gust of wind that seem to hit only a few select pitches? I got a video of the flying gazebo that landed on the GTR and the Evo that was parked next to it. I think the Curry Club lost a few tents too?

Witnessed a similar twister a few years ago in Camping Bleu, not as bad as that put it pulled a gazebo a couple of feet into the air. Must be fairly common in that region.
er - more than a couple of feet! a couple of years back our gazebo ended up wrapped around the camper vans next door!
I was the only one at the site at the time and trying to hang onto a 6x3m gazebo was a bit of a challenge! Fortunately a couple of kind chaps wandering past helped disentangle it from the vans and by the time we'd finished a couple of other guys returned and we were able to rebuild the gazebo - I think it did get abandonned at the end of the weekend as having seen better days!
I didn't see it as it happened when I was watching the race, but that white gazebo was on the pitch in front of me.
A guy 3 pitches down lost his 15 foot flag pole & flags (that ended up on the pitch where the white gazebo was).
You can see my car in the last photo on that video clip (red Focus).
Luckily it didn't come my way, I ended up with an empty Snickers multipack wrapper around my aerial.
I have some photos I will post later.

A couple of photos.
We would have helped, but as we were passing by on our way back form the Grandstand to the end of the Maison Blanche site to see the racing on the Porsche Curves, and that no-one was there at the time, we didn't want to wade in and start trying to clear up.

Another casualty of the wind.

We were just walking back and saw it too, looked like the Helicopter that had just flown over had a lot to do with it, they've been known to flip light aircraft at low level so a gazebo is no problem.... funny how it looked like a mini tornado though.

We were sat in Blue South and saw the white party tent and green gazebo up in the air above the height of the Maison Blanche wall, very spooky. Where did the green gazebo land ? From where we were sat it looked like it was headed out of the campsite.
We were just walking back to bleu sud when we saw the green gazebo really high up in the sky, it then came crashing down into the ditch between the road and bleu sud. It did look very impressive. Shame the GTR got damaged.Gassing Station | Le Mans | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
