surely not a tenner then? to sit on the grass? that sounds like pretty dross value to me....
Bearing in mind that the people behind the clubs that orgaise hillclimbs are usually volunteers and give up countless hours of thier time and effort into putting on top quality motorsport events, I dont think the spectator fees are overly bad for a whole days entertainment. its not as if the club committees are handing themsleves massive bonuses each year. In most cases any profits are ploughed back into the venue (GAC recently spent a substantial amount resrfacing the track)At very few motorsports can you get as close to the action as well as speak to the drivers and look around the paddock machinery.
Also at a British hillclimb round the average Sunday spectator fee is £10+ i think shelsley is closer to £15

I think it to watch the cars, sitting is optional. If its anything like Fintry with 2 timed practice and two comp runs (if they survive)
add to that the variety of metal that gets flung up the track its nae that bad...
...and thats coming from an Aberdonian

Not taking anything away from Fintray but, Doune is nothing like Fintray, for spectator or driver.add to that the variety of metal that gets flung up the track its nae that bad...

At Fintray the spectators can see most of the track from their respective viewpoints, whereas at Doune, which is longer, the spectator can only view it in sections. However, the spectator at Doune can get much closer to the action, at Oak tree and Garden Gate you are less than 2m from the track, watching the cars through those 2 corners is one of the best motorsport spectator views in the country (IMHO). For drivers Doune is longer and especially in the bottom half of the hill more demanding and is regularly voted the best hillclimb in the British Championship by the competitors. Worth a tenner to spectate...definitely!
