High speed vibration
Discussion
I had my wheels balanced and had a high speed vibration (from about 85 mph upwards)...went to a different tyre place who had state of the art balancing equipment (had a digital read out on the screen on the balancer), car sorted!.. not a vibration at all....if you didnt have it before fitting new wheels i would definately get the balancing rechecked at a different place!
Is it a rythmic vibration that gets worse the faster you go?
I ask because I had one, still have i think. It felt like it was travelling through the car. All started after I got my slave cylinder done and the day I got the car back I changed the tyres.
I was told to get the wheels rebalanced but I haven't got round to it yet.

Mine's the same, from 85 up. Had new tyres and balancing done recently, but its still there to some extent, althought doesn't seem to be as bad.
I have noticed that the disc just sits on to the hub, and isn't fixed, and with the wheel off you could just pull the disc off, if the caliper wasn't there. I'm wondering if there's any corrosion or crap between the disc and the hub and that means the disc may not be sat on the hub straight????????
Used to have brake judder as well as the high speed vibs, but since I read the article that was knocking about on here a couple of months ago about brake pad transfer......basically not sitting with your foot on the brakes when at juctions, traffic lights etc(near impossible with the crap cerb handbrake) that the judder has now gone completly.
I've also thought it could be prop shaft vibs, but I'm going for the easier option first ie taking the discs off have a look and clean them up

Ridds,
Not sure who the question about tracking was aimed at mate, however I'm going to jump in and answer
Had all the suspension geometry checked and adjusted a few weeks ago, tracking and camber were both out, seem to remember Joolz saying that the camber changes due to spring sag.....another reason to get nitrons i suppose!!!!!!!!!, as if I needed one!!
All is spot on now, so that's not the problem.
Pretty sure the problem lies with the discs/hubs as the other guys have pointed out.
I've got the one piece disc assembly, from what I can gather there are a couple of different types
Will have a closer look soon, when I can find the time.....has anyone got any I can borrow
