TVR sold - advise on private plate
Discussion
I thought my private plate (SP06 TVR) would fly off the shelf but I have had it advertised on PH and TVRCC for a few weeks now and not a sniff.

I think it is priced quite competitively but has anyone got any comments or ideas where else I can advertise to get it sold?
Thanks
Alan.

Great plate, but it is too new. How many 06 plates Tivs are out there? Not many is my guess, hence the lack of interest. I don`t know how much you are asking for it, but any thing more than £500 is probabily to much? IMO, of course.
I'd agree with the limited market. It might be worth your while offering it to or via Racing Green for one of the new cars they're building?snorky said:
Surely the SP06 related to Speed 6 not the year so more than £500 notes I would expect..
06 is an age related plate so you can't put on a car older that 2006.Edited by V8 GRF on Monday 15th June 17:19

Correct... which means less than 100 cars... I'll give you £300Just seen the plate TU56CAN for £5,750... he must be in cloud cuckoo land, that plate can go on about 10 cars (if that!!... well I suppose there are some very late registered cars built and sold months after completion).

good excuse to keep it and buy another 06 TVR isn't it!
I have had 2 06 Tuscans and at the end of the day the TVR experience just isn't for me. While I love the looks and the noise, there have just been too many negatives that I simply couldn't live with - just guess I have been unlucky with my choice of cars, also the customer service offered by the 2 dealers I bought the cars from was nothing short of shambolic. I am gutted that my TVR experience hasn't worked out, as I wanted one for nearly 20 years!! It's not all negative though as I have met some top people who I am sure will remain good mates for many years to come.Looks like I will just have to stick the plate on fleabay!!

Hi Alan
So sorry to hear its not worked out for you, such a shame.
Hope to see you soon, perhaps a nice little V8 would suit better?

Maybe should have gone the V8 route after the first one - just got dazzled by the spectraflair!!
I have moved to the dark side and bought a 911 turbo, will get down to the Woodman in the near future. Hope you will still talk to me!

Alan.
In theory £1500 is about right for your plate but that's if someone wants to pay it.... The DVLA sell all similar plates for £1000 and I would think you would be well advised to sell it for anything you can get over that.
Agree that the guy asking £5750 for TU56 CAN must be dreaming as is the guy asking £4k for P14 BHP. These people spend too much time looking at the Regtransfers type websites where plates that those companies don't own are offered for silly money. I bought a plate for £2500 from the owner that was simultaneously being offered (without his knowledge) for £5950 on one of those sites. They trawl the ads for plates and then advertise them for silly money hoping to get a bite and then try and buy the plate.

I have TV55CAN on my Tuscan convertable, as far as I am concerned the plate is best left on the car as when you come to sell it, it adds a little extra icing !Unless someone wants to buy mine for £5,750...
