C36 AMG k&n air filter?
Discussion
Hello Stuart , hope all is well !
My 36 is up for service in August . My philosophy is to keep everything as standard as possible , so I`m going for the Mercedes one . The only way to change the noise is to drill some holes in your airbox , but I suspect you won`t be keen on this one .
The next addition for mine will be tyres . The ones on the car are all good , but getting a bit old . I cant yet decide between Michelin Pilots or Pirelli Rosso .

Hello Micky
I went for it and purchased a k&n air filter...
There seems to be more mid range power and more eger to rev, there is also a slight increase in noice but not a bad increase.
I have installed cone filters before and the induction noice can be a tiring...and was trying to avoid it.
I never priced a standard filter but only paid £46 for the k&n panel filter which is a direct replacement and I would recommend it.
Apart from that nothings new with the old girl she still going great and now has just past the 80k mark so just about run in...
cheers

About the tyres i went for Avons all round and they are pretty good for the money( purchased after reading a post on tyres as they got a great review on this site) but will probibly go for michelin's next time round as they have been my tyre of choice now for years and you do get what you pay for.
hope that help

Thanks Stu . I`ve got Avons on the back and they`re wearing very well . The spec sheet of the car when new said it came with Dunlops , but the reviews aren`t promising . There seem to be some deals locally to knock 30% off when you buy 4 Michelin or Pirelli tyres making it a choice between the two . I just like the idea of running the car on the best tyres I can get .
Other than that the car is completely incident free . As it`s (imperial) red , the paint needs regular fettling to keep it shiny and it`s coming up for its fourth service in 9,000 miles with me . Spoilt? Yes .
There`s an article in last months Merc club magazine about an ice cream vendor ( in Scotland) who has a C36 . He tried to sell and couldn`t get the price he wanted so bought a C63 as well . This is the basis of my long term strategy too.

Hello Stuart, i also installed a K @ n filter in my C36 and noticed benefits in the summer warmer air. But in winter time and very cold air temp, it sometimes felt i was driving in gearbox winter mode when in standard mode. Not sure why this would be. I now drive a C55 and have installed KN's and have noticed a difference. Miss my old C36 though!

Hello all
The time has come to service my beloved C36 AMG and was considering a k&n panel air filter
I was just wondering if any other fellow ph'ers had installed the above?
If yes did you notice any difference in performance or noice?
Thanks in advance for any comments
Stuart
Over on "http://www.mbclub.co.uk/forums" there have been threads about K&N filters causing issues with the MAF, if they were over oiled. I had a K&N on my C36 and replaced it with a standard air filter. I actually prefer the noise of the standard air filter, I think the K&N filter gave slightly better performance. The time has come to service my beloved C36 AMG and was considering a k&n panel air filter
