Mel - you want to get over to www.detailingworld.co.uk - we're a friendly bunch of guys (and a few gals) always ready to help first-timers.
If you dont want to purchase online then maybe try ringing Meguiers and asking if any retail outlets keep their machine in stock.
There will be quite a few DAS Random Orbitals on Ebay - a 'lower cost' alternative to the Meguiers/Porter Cable/Ultimate Detailing Machine is Silverline - there's an sponsor on detailingworld that keeps these in stock.
Most of the sponsors on detailingworld are pretty good and if they are showing stock you'll usually have it the next day.
Dean.

Mel like 7even has said it sounds like you haven't worked the abrasives in g3 down enough as its really designed for machine use. You could try working the polish in a small area for longer, or you may have to buy a machine polisher.
If you do go the machine polisher way, It depends on how much you want to spend, i do believe that there is a thread on detailing world where people have got cheap random orbitial sanders to work well.
I have a porter cable that i imported from america a few years back but i haven't used it on the ro yet. I paid approx £200 all in but you can get uk versions now for around £100. Try the sponsers on detailingworld, they are normally very fast with delivery, normally only a few days.

Mel, that G3 you bought is pretty harsh. You really need to work the stuff for quite a while by hand. Don't expect the result after the G3 to look shiny, you're just aiming to take out the swirls. If you work it well the car will be smooth but the finish will be a bit dull. That's when you use the polish, to refine the finish and get a nice shine. If you don't work it long enough the large, nasty abrasives will leave marks.
There are effective polishes that are less harsh than G3 but I'd probably still recommend you pay someone to do it.
Failing that seriously consider getting a machine and we covered that well in your previous thread on the topic.

As already mentioned G3 is tough stuff but if you give it a bit of spit ( a splash of water with a damp sponge may be more lady like) then rub in it will make life easier and not quite so harsh. only do one area at a time as its still makes you break a sweat then polish off with lots of clean soft cloth. keep away from badges/trims as its a mare to get out from round the edges and dries white, finish off with the glaze.
Ps. dont use to much G3 a small amount goes a long way specially with a dab of water use to much and you will be there for ever and just make a mess

I followed the instructions with the G3 and now have real big swirls
What a nightmare. I've ordered a sealy orbital polisher and have returned the Farcla G3. I've been advised to use some 3M finesse and then 3M Imperial Machine Glaze. Watch this space

I recently spent a lot of money on a random orbital. I read on one of the forums that they are good for beginners and easier to use than straight out orbitals which take a bit of practice to use well.
I have been using 3M perfect it 3000 (6068) after using the meguiars medium cut. I did try some menzerna on the weekend which worked well too and I might use that to replace the Meguiars medium cut.
Admittedly I do have a car to practice on but it is averaging about 90 minutes a panel at present but that might be because they were pretty average to start with.

Which one did you get. I just ordered a Sealy and it was on offer. Supposed to be £138 and i got it for £70+possibly VAT. Then i've gotta get the spacers and foam pads. motomk would you say i could use the G3 all over with the orbital polisher or may i cause problems? I will be practicing on the MercedesI have been using 3M perfect it 3000 (6068) after using the meguiars medium cut. Just my 2pence worth, the G3 is a great product , but you must remember that what you're doing is actually taking a very thin layer of paint off
so you must make it uniform and without spinning up the pad ( creating more swirls ) , once you removed the swirls from that layer of paint then you should be on a virgin paint surface and ready to polish / wax. A layer of paint is not one coat of paint but a few microns down
. Don't go nuts with G3 or you'll be seeing the basecoat.
Good luck

Go very careful on the panel edge’s and swage lines, if your using a polishing mop with a foam head it will cut through the Lacquer very quickly.
After the G3 you could try T Cut which is liquid and should remove the scratches left by the G3, but the same care on the edges is still required.
Roughly mask the car up with newspaper or something as it will spray ever where, and make sure you use plenty of the compound. Try not to let the mop become dry as it could then burn the paint, you can moisten it with water if required.
Hope that helps.
