I'd like to borrow one for a couple of days, or have someone show me how to mess about with some video and photos and stuff on a mac laptop - doesn't have to be one of these new air pro things or whatever, just something to give me an idea if it'll do what i think it'll do.

I'd go to an Apple store and get them to give me a proper demo but can't be bothered to go into central London or drive to Bristol or Milton Keynes!

Anyone?

P. smile

Of all places, PC World in Guildford Ladymead has a little Mac section and the guy there gave us a really good demo.

He was rubbish at actually fulfilling the order though and we bought elsewhere, but great for showing you what a Mac can do and answering questions etc.

I have a macbook prob pete, they are great, best thing I have got with a computer thingy inside, much better than a PC. The guy at Comet Farnborough was excellent at demos and knew his stuff. I will bring mine along next time we meet up but cannot do without it for a day biggrin

Well worth the extra cash too, and just haggle a price, get the comet cover care haggle another 20% off like I did, then cancel the product care cover the next week haha, and get a bargain price biggrin

Seems Apple have got lease rights for a couple of stores next to each other in The Oracle in Reading - one store has closed, the other is currently closing, which means they will gut/strip/refit over the next few weeks/months. Presumably in time for a pre-Christmas opening...

I used to work there, the guy who served you, was he bald? Manager Matt is obsessed with Mac's

My bro has a Mac book and I use a Mac at work, they feel a bit wierd a first, but you get used to them so easy.

I have an old PowerBook G4 sitting doing nothing. Do you have the software you need or at least know if you'll be using iLife or the Pro apps like Aperture and Final Cut?

Can bring to tonight's TVRCC meet if you are going...

I think iLife08 or 09 has everything i will need, more or less, and the fact that you can run the odd Windows app here and there will be relevant (there are a couple of freebie apps i use from time to time which AFAIK are windows only).

Other than that, i know NOTHING! smile

Was planning to go tonight yes, what time you going?

OK. Will probably be there about 8 ish... You won't be able to run VMWare or Bootcamp on it though since it's not an intel chip so don't get your hopes up about running Windows apps side by side!

I'll install the latest Leopard OS version and the latest iLife that I have which is what comes with the OS and will patch up for you...

10 mins? Blimey you'll have Spielberg quaking in his boots. It really is that easy!

Not a problem at all - literally just switched it on and it's downloading updates now.

17" pro, 15" pro & 24" imac

after a string of normal laptops we bought a 15" Pro, within weeks we bought the others, they are that good, 15" is now 4 years old & as quick as the day it started and has had no problems.

Someone I have known since school has supplied Macs since day dot & knows them inside out, gives a fair few goodies away if bought through him too (official supplier) if your interested drop me a line & I'll give you his details.

Runs XP with ease as well (with a quick reboot) so no need to loose all your windows work.
