I need to service my new Chim asap as its overdue. I think my local options are HHC or TJ Motors near Borobridge. Anyone care to make any suggestions ?

Thanks bilton_d. Nice Cerby on your profile. That tree thats growing out of your roof. Is it a TVR option or aftermarket ?

My previous car was a 98 Chim, I used to take it to Joolz at Joospeed. Lovely drive over to his place, fantastic service, great pricing! Oh yeah, and he's a top chap too!

Can't comment on HHC, I don't know anyone locally who uses them........

I use HHC and have no complaints whatsoever. First class service and reasonableish bills so far.

That'll be Hexham HC you're talking about... I think Tonto means Harrogate HC as he's based in Leeds.

If Joolz can fit you in then I'd recommend him, failing that, there's SFR in stockport, leave it with Shane and spend the day Christmas shopping in Manchester?

Glad you got sorted with a car Tonto, hope you are having fun

Have not had my car serviced yet, will be though early in the New Year, prob will take it to HHC (to keep up the full HHC history more than anything). HHC are more expensive (about £44 per hour I think) than the indies, but people speak highly of their work. Does yours have TVR or indie history?

Sorry, yes I did mean Harrogate HC. Has anyone used TJ Motors ?

Tonto,

Used both (HHC and TJ) and can't complain about either of them. TJ Motors is much, much cheaper (less than half the labour price) and quite a few of the locals use him.
I'd personally try to get it in with Joolz - he's got a much higher profile than TJ Motors which will be good for resale but is cheaper than HHC. Speaking of which, I need to chase him up to get a date for the Cerbie servicing...

Tom (TJ motors) has just services my S3, excellent job, also got new discs, pads, water pump, rear brake cylinders and door adjusted for the same price HHC quoted for just an interim service. Would recommend him to anyone.

Took the Chim to Harrogate for drive shaft boots and front wishbones. I had heard a few bad reports about them but so far they've been fine and the bills have = the estimates. Are the guys in Borobridge on the main drag ( used to be SSC cars ? )

No, I meant Harrogate HC. Hexham is bloody miles away.

I agree about the fact that Joospeed is higher profile, but its a 140 mile round trip as opposed to 20 to Borobridge .

Anybody know if Jools has a Courtesy car ?

used both HHC and TJ

Both good

Get a franchise stamp with HHC but TJ is less than half the price

Take your choice

TJ is at Roecliffe NOT SSC!

Just had the Chim serviced at TJ Motors....

Fantastic service and it didn't break the bank like HHC!

Hi Matt

Is it you who we met at Wolley Edge services, with your silver chim?

I'm the ginger haired bloke you met in the car park, and Gemini was the good looking one there too

Glad you've got registered on PH

I was disappointed with Harrogate HC. Left the car in a disgusting mess, oil scrubbed into the carpet, 4 items not ticked as 'done' on the check sheet. I think I upset them when I wouldn't let them carryout the extra work they found. Good job too, they told me my front brakes were down to the bone and I needed a new gaiter. Checked these points and others when I got home and found nothing wrong. Took the car for an MOT eight months later and these parts are still OK. Don't get me wrong, I would use them again but next time I'll be even more vigilant. Problem is I felt they treated my car like cattle, just another TVR, nothing special.

Hi Matt

I'm assuming you're the driver of the silver chim I followed into town this morning! Glad you registered! Have a look at the thread about us all meeting up for a blast on Boxing Day, you're welcome to come.

If you can't make it, I dare say I'll see you at the gym sometime!
