Nildram have nothing to do with Pistonheads any more.

Could you elaborate - you've obviously got here in order to post the message, so I'm not quite sure what you mean.

Thanks,
Ted

P.S. basically you should be able to access the site via www.pistonheads.com now.

Jeff,

The site is no longer hosted by Nildram, hence the symptoms you describe. Welcome back

Cheers,

This new server you were working on Ted,
take it this is under you control???
If so, why is it so god damn fast!!!
When you were with nildram, it used to take ages to load, even at college! (Some ridiculous number of GB dedicated line to a server in paisley)
If it is under yur control, ie, you have a huge box in you bedroom that no-one is allowed to blow on, let alone touch! How is connected to the internet! Or are you one of these BroadBand geezers???

I'm studying Web Servers at college just now which is why i'm so interested!!!!

Nildram provided a good service but I outgrew the box I was on there. That was a 'virtual server' that was home to several hundred sites. When I first went on there it happily coped with my 200,000 pages a month. Although they did some upgrades it couldn't cope with the traffic that PH now receives so I moved it to a dedicated server (i.e. just PH on it). No it's not housed in my bedroom (!), it's in a secure environment at www.rackspace.co.uk

The dedicated move appears to have worked a deeam Ted - no more blocked connections to the server, straight on every time.

Well done. A fine service, sir !

Ahhhhhhhh!!!! I see!!!
Couple more questions,
Did you 'Build you own' or take one of theres???
If you built your own, what did you put in it???
Just had a look. You could build a server to put NASA to shame with the right amount of redies!
And I just had a popup window with an instant message from one of there sales team!!! Whoa!
