National Lottery - anyone ever won anything?
Discussion
Bizarre beginnings, but the missus and I were at our marriage preparation session (to get married in a church) on Sunday and one of the questions was "what would you do if you won £100k"?
Talk of TVRs, holidays etc got me a bit excited so I slapped a few quid on the next few weeks Lotto draws. Now, I know the chances of winning anything are next to nout, but you have to be 'in it to win it', as Dale Winton would say.
So, anyone been lucky enough to win a tenner? Over how long a period of playing?

Based on the figures from 14th may to 14th June, our office/workshop syndicate played 3 lines twice a week, so £27 per month(+/-) and won a grand total of £20 and that seems to have been a far better month than average. Guess we've got to pay for the stageringly badly planned and managed London olympics some how

Mum won £2300 on 5 numbers
So close but yet so far. Anyone I have ever heard of getting 5 numbers seems to get a pretty measily sum - surely 5 numbers is deserving of more!a friend of mine's mother got 5 numbers (few hundred quid, cant remember exact amount) and was one number away from the 6th.....or so she told me.....found out later that the one number away from the 6th was number 38, she had number 4.....a bewildered me thought, so you had 5 then and no where near the 6th number you dosey cow.
Four numbers once, worth about £45 that week. I haven't bothered since, though I guess I have roughly broken even, which is far better than average.
I think one of the bookies runs a similar ball game which pays much more for small wins, £512 for four IIRC, though a smaller 'big win'. But, given that your odds of winning big are around those of being hit by a returning Elvis' flying saucer I'd be more tempted to try that.
