Fire on BSJ on Friday Night
Discussion
I have very vague memories of something burning for a while on Friday, I have no idea what time. Did I imangine this or did it actually happen? If I was an alien looking for people to abduct I'd head to Le Mans each June because I for one always have very shaky memories past about 6pm every night.

There was the caravan on sunday night? that went up well! funny that they were playing songs with "fire" in to it!
When people do things like that do they not consider the costs to ACO which are passed on to us? Having to clear up a burnt out caravan may not be expensive in itself, but the clear up costs must be enormous and something like that just makes it worse as it would require specific attention - I don't understand why people do that, even to caravans. If it was an accident, I hope no one was hurt and feel sorry for the owner.

I totally agree with what andyps said. I stayed at pistonheads camp this year. And behind us was some keen petrolheads but at the end they just bent all the metal frame on there gazebo. What is the point. I would of had the bloody thing if they didnt want it, for next year. But still a great year!!!

Did you not spot the pikeys hovering up anything that was not nailed down on Monday morning ?Explains the wanton destruction on Sunday nights although if you don't mind asking you can bag the odd goody like the pool and pump we gained a few years ago
The pikeys walked into our gazebo on Monday morning while we were packing the cars up.
I've got no problem with them going around picking up anything useful (although I pity a society which makes scavenging through bins worthwhile), but they could at least show enough decency to wait until after we've left!

It occurred to me that if things were not destroyed the pikeys may well wait until most people had gone to pick up whatever was left - I have no problems with them having good stuff if I choose to leave it, surely it is better to let it get some other use rather than just destruction for the sake of it. Trouble is when they pick things up from people that have not left and therefore intend to pack up what gets taken. Having said that, someone near us left a boom-box which was picked up - it was near a car and tent which was occupied and they asked about it before taking it, not sure if it would have been in working order however.
Ideally, the security people would operate throughout Sunday in my view so that only those with valid tickets can get in until Monday, leaving it a free for all after mid-day.

This was the caravan torched on Dairon, made a huge mess, loads of other tents etc got chucked on as well
I just don't understand how burning caravans relates to coming to France and watching the greatest race on earth?

I felt really sorry for the guy behind us who came for the 1st time to Le Mans with his son and was planning to stay in BSJ on Sunday night.
