Hi all,
I'm looking to move to a Tuscan from my S series. I'm going to look at one in a week or so. I've read up on the speed 6 and all the tales of woe. What are the best bits of owning a Tuscan?

Not just a performance car but also a work of art. Over this weekend at Le mans I had at least 1000+ pictures taken, although I think the colour played a large part in that. It certainly got masses more positive attention than my friends 997 GT3RS at four times the cost. Wait until you drive it on a sunny day with the roof off

A very good point well made! My S sounds good, but not as gutteral or raw as these things.

Everything they said! The Rouen Tunnel on the way to Le Mans, amazing!

The number of people round the car every time it was parked for more than 5 seconds! If I had a £ for each pic that got taken of it this weekend I could have a set of Nitrons for free! mine got more attention than the brand new DB9 parked next to it on our campsite

As I said on a previous post we did over heat which was a bit of a drama but we got it sorted and got home in 1 piece.

Woohoo the first one is mine on the Glasgow Tunnel run last year. It is now decatted with the CCC's.

this was on the Highland Hoon in May. And yes the sound, the looks you get and the sheer shape with loads of power does give you a smile everytime.

It has to be the noise, or not being able to go to B&Q without someone wanting to know everything about it, or coming out of your house and finding someone underneath it ( not with criminal intent). You have to be ready for the attention... and did I mention the noise. If only you could bottle it.

Plus if you can reach far enough try putting your foot down. I'm only 6ft 2 so cant quite get the pedal to the floor. Does it really go all the way to the lights?

Oh and there's the noise....

And .... everything.

You have to own a Tuscan once in your life, you will love it and hate it and love it again all in one day.

When the window doesnt fancy opening it doesnt open. If it can't be arsed telling you how fast it goes it wont. But when its on form it has to be the greates pound for pound excitement there is.

Simples.

Live fast die young and have a TVR in the garage.

Apparently you can move the pedals closer....I'm 6'3" and am still thinking about doing this. That bloke Wheeler (God rest him) was a bloody tall chap!

All TVRs are different than the norm but the Tuscan is not only different but a totally unique design that will remain a classic forever.

Oh, and did anyone mention the noise?

Its never been so much fun going for a pint of milk!!

20 mins to warm up the engine once out.

30 mins Hooning around

10 mins to admire car when back in the garage and try ang get big silly grin of your face.

Fuel consumption. I can get high 20's if Im sensible.

Things that make me laugh:

The mood swings.

Can't be arsed with you today so Im not letting you out etc...
This is how much petrol you have left - I lied, actually you have 3 thimble fulls to get to garage, and no crap 95 either.

To the original OP. GET ONE. But have a car on standby.

I have owned my tusc for 2 years. I went in to it with my eyes open and expected the worst. In that time, very little has gone wrong and I have a cracking motor.

In terms of the best bits, I think it comes down to the fact that nothing else compares. I often contemplate chopping it in for another sports car - hey life is too short, but there is *nothing* worth trading up to

Perfomance wise - what else could you have that compares for equivalent money. a lotus...too dull, a motorbike...too dead, a caterham... too impractical, a ferrari.. too expensive

Sound/Noise is something else - when you have the top down and go through a tunnel, it is the best thing in the world

Looks - I have only ever owned one car where people stop and stare. Strangers wave at you on the motorway, people ask to take pictures in service stations / supermarkets, kids always give you the thumbs up.

and the best bit if you ask me is the flexibility - it is all cars in one.
I can drive a 300 mile long motorway journey in a nearly monsoon to Cardiff for the weekend with the top on and not feel any worse than if the journey had been in a ford focus.
I can hoon round the local roads with the top off.
I can take a mate to the golf course with 2 sets of clubs.
I can go to club meets and meet like minded nutters
I can drop the rear window in the boot and commute to work.

You try and find another sports car with a boot that can take two suitcases, a set of golf clubs and an entire families Christmas presents and still squeeze the roof and rear window in on top for a 1000 mile round trip without missing a beat. If you can and it has the looks, performance and feeling of a TVR, then I'll gladly upgrade.

As a good friend of mine said - "this really is a car for life innit - there's nothing else close - I mean, what else could you get that's faster, looks better, you can afford without a lottery win and attracts more attention?, It ain't out there!"

Also, saw 2 Fezza spiders on the way home last night - I was the only Tuscan - it's called exclusivity!
