Meta alarm

Hi all
I have taken my meta alarm siren out of the car and opened it up, as it doesn't make any sound, Can anyone tell me a way of checking if the siren still works meaning there's a problem somewhere else (by the way indicators flash as they should and the car locks ok), could i just connect two wires to the speaker part and expect it to make a noise (sorry electrical numpty). I have already spoken to carl baker (top bloke) and he advised me that there could be a problem with the wiring loom in the car, dont want to bother him again if theres a simple answer out there. Any ideas. Also there's no corrosion on my connector which i understand is a common fault.

Mine only occasionally makes a noise so assuming a connection problem which may be related to the electric problem I have.
