I have a 1999 Ford Cougar V6 with just over 100k on the clock and a FSH.

Very occasionally there can be some resistance engaging 3rd and 4th gear. It always goes in but sometimes needs more pressure than the other gears. Happens maybe 3 times in 100 miles (Wife's car so I only driven it for a few miles for fault diagnosis). Clutch is not slipping and the gearbox feels tight, not notchy and makes no untoward noise. Almost feels as though there is no synchromesh. Car spends most of its life on the motorway.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Firstly, bleed the clutch.

Secondly, change the oil. You need the Ford oil in the Ford bottle, known as BOT130.

Do that and your problems will disappear.
