Looking for someone with some local knowlege to help!
Planning a car run for sunday 28th June and planning to stop off in Newton Stewart for Lunch. Was down last weeek and was on a street near the BP ( or shell) garage with lots of hotels.
Is there any place in the town where we could get easy parking for say 30 cars? Any big hotel which has a large car park and possibly could cope with say 30-40 additioanl covers for a bar lunch???
Any good places to stop on the road in from St Johns town of Dalry or the Girvan road for scenic pics? That would safley hold say 30 cars?
Is the road in to Newton Stewart near the forrest very busy or dangerous with cyclists on a sunday morning? I saw lots of signs for cycle trails etc?
Anything else we should be extra careful about?? Not a local festival or anything? Or local police car prevention week! lol

Not local to there Paul but:
There's a Rally in Ae, near Dumfries, starting the 27th. Normally one day but better check.
The trails down there are popular with bikers but, mostly, off road. However it has always been popular with the touring fraternity... who can go very, very slow.....
Watch out along the A75 & A76, very popular with scameras - D & G Police and courts are reknowned for a very hardnosed attitude to speeding. Often ban even if you need your car for work, regardless of hardship.

Hi thanks for the info. We are staying off the main roads in particuar the A75 as it can be so busy. Shame as there are some really beutiful streaches of road with amazing scenery and sea views.
Any feedback is welcome.
I have said that wild driving or unsafe driving would not be tolerated on runs but luckily we seem to attract sensible sorts on our runs and again luckily I have never seen any driving of that type.
We live in the most beutiful country in the world and runs like this can open our eyes to how lucky we are to be here!
Being Italian however I need food recomendations!! ( Scotland cant have everything in gods creation, eg make cars, food and to make sure it wasnt perfect look at our English neighbours!)

its about 40mins from newton but the drive up from stranraer is (significantly) better than the drive up from newton_------>girvan (with much better views). Portpatrick is perfect for your needs with lots of parking and isn't as difficult to find as knockinaamlodge.
Keep your eye on the speedo on the a75 especially. I am sure that goes without saying!
