Picked this up on DVD earlier and everyone has to see it, great film about amazing men.

All you want is for them to succeed, watching them being torn apart by following there dream is so moving.

You can delete every post in "Emotional/Uplifting man films" thread and replace them all with Anvil.

The final scenes will move even the most stone hearted PH'er.

Go and buy it now.

Indeed a great film. I watched this on Monday night and i really enjoyed it. Although the reviews say you don't need to like metal to enjoy it, i do question this. I wonder if a non metal fan would rate this film as much as i did (a self confessed fan of all things metal)

Well I'm not a metal fan but I do love classic rock and listen to Planet Rock for about 8 hours per day.

I didn't think you needed to be a metal fan, it was all about the people.

I remember buying Metal on Metal when it came out - a brilliant album. No wonder so many bands cite them as an influence

It's not just about the people and that was my point. It is also about the music, the era and the culture of metal back in the day. I was just wondering whether, if you did not relate to the circumstances of the people in the film, and their contemporaries, would you get as much out of it as someone who did.

I think I loved it more because I am a fan of Docu' films and find real human drama far more enthralling than any acting, Murderball is one of my all time favourite films for example.
