Battery choice.

Trying to find the ideal battery make and model for a precat 400.The one I've got at the moment is sh*te

Has anyone got any preference? What are the ideal AH rating.

Hi Wargriff probably has the answers you require as he has just gone down the same route and purchase a new battery for his Pre-Cat.

I put a Lucas LSUK 031/4 (75Ah 630cca) into my 4.0 pre-cat when I had it and it performed very well, plenty of grunt in cold weather etc., cost about £80.

I was recently having battery problems and made an interesting discovery. Unfortunately the battery then completely died before I could complete the modification, forcing me to fit a new standard battery. So now I will do the modification when the car comes off the road for the winter.

I identified a suitable replacement battery that’s a bit taller and thinner than standard. It’s an Odyssey Extreme 40. This provides about an extra 3” legroom in the passenger.

To do this you need a new battery box. Surface & Design want about £65 for a suitable sized box.
