Oz plates and Le Mans
Discussion
Finally got my new 'show' plates from Oz. The photos show the 'ro wearing them for Le Mans last weekend. It's not clear from the pics but the wording I went for in the end was THUNDER FROM DOWN UNDER.
The car got a lot of attention down there, especially from the Danes who all seemed to love it!
A full set of my Le Mans pics are here if anyone is interested.

So how to you go with the Bill here with those plates. or do you only have them on when in europe?
Basically they are illegal (although there are far worse out there), hence show plates. I've only just got them. They were on for the run to the Tunnel and back, but otherwise just in France so far.hammo19 said:
Spotted your Ro in the camp site, looked really clean. I was down there in my GTS-R giving it hell on the Friday down the Mulsanne, we are on YouTube making lots of noise.........
I...errrr...took my bucket n sponge and washed it whilst I was down there....sad huh!
We tried to get to the Mulsanne on Fri from the Maison Blanch end, but plod had closed off access at Arnage corner. I wrongly presumed then that the whole of the Mulsanne was closed to traffic! Doh!
I'll check out YouTube for your bits!

Did you run headlong into that Lotus in the first pic?!
Ha ha...you're not the first to point that out. We were (luckily!) both just parked up doing photos at the start of the Porsche curves. If they are just pressed steel plates.
There are UK companies who can make fully legal pressed steel plates. The VW guys seem to love them.

Where and how did you get your plates from Rocket?
I got them from these guys in Oz via eBay. I think it worked out at about £36 for the pair.I tried various UK companies but they couldn't do the correct Oz size plate or font.
Even from Oz, getting plates made is not easy. These ones are classed as 'novelty plates' and as a result they won't make them if your combination of letters and numbers could potentially be a real Aussi registration.
Also, they didn't include the additional wording at the bottom. For this I got some vinyl lettering made up and added it myself...just search for vinyl lettering on eBay.
