Rear Screen and Insurance

Just had a long drive back from a meeting in Manchester. Was on the M6 toll road in the rain only doing about 75 when there was a sudden bang and the rear screen disappeared! Pulled over and then realised that I could not really leave the car with no rear window in a down pour to walk back along the motorway and probably not find the screen, so does anyone have any experience of replacing the screen
Problem 2 involves our smallest car, a Daewoo Matiz, which is used mainly by the kids age 22 and 19, attempting to get it reinsured which is expensive but in October my youngest will be 17 and will want to start to drive. Best quote that A plan can give is 4K for a car worth less than half that!! Any suggestions??
What will be the third problem?

For the insurance try CIS.

They did me an any driver policy a couple of years ago that worked out much cheaper than naming drivers.

Bonedoc the cheapest solution is to get them to pay for their own insurance i bet you had to at their age

17 year old on provisional license. £660 on brand new Suzuki Swift as named driver. The great news is they also get their own no-claims discount, so just as good as having their own insurance.
