I topped up my E60 M5 with oil and have managed to put 0.2L too much in. Do I need to drain some as it is 0.2L above the max line?
Cheers.

The M5 is notorious for consuming oil at an alarming rate (BMW says 1 to 1.5 quarts in 750 miles) and the fact that there is no dipstick is certainly questionable. To update the display and get the most recent oil level indication, instead of waiting for it to update itself(the sampling rate is very slow) use the buttons on the left stalk to scroll through the menu in the instrument cluster until you get to the indicator for the oil level and then hold the button on the stalk until it resets. You might have to play with the buttons for a couple of minutes to get it right and if you skip over the place where you are supposed to be to reset the indicator, dont fret, just go back and do it again. You will be able to see if you are successful by watching the display, it will show the reset level immediately with green bars all the way up to full, if you have overfilled it will tell you that too.

I checked mine and there is no overfill warning. Does it have one like he says?
Cheers.

I have an E92 M3 which also has no dipstick and I've found that mine tells me that the oil level is OK - I understand that if you do overfill it, the car will tell you that there's too much oil and then yes, you would have to drain some out.
I recently topped up the oil in my car and suspect that I put a tiny bit too much in but the car says the oil level is fine, so I'm guessing it's OK.
Your car will be slightly different but I'd still be very surprised if it didn't tell you that there's an overfill issue!
Cheers
