I started a thread on this which appeared to be deleted for some reason. I'll have the Elise on the NYLOC stand. Come and say hi - we're not a bad mob!
Could have been me
I replied to your thread, first attempt it didn't take and on the second the whole thing had gone!BOT
Same question really, do you know which clubs are showing?
Andy
How strange! I've no idea about other clubs I'm afraid. NYLOC (sorry if you already know) is the North Yorkshire Lotus Owners' Club. There are 25 of us expected I believe. I'm sure there will be a plethora of others there as well though. Keep an eye out for us and come over for a chat - Chevronb37 is my regular internet alias.

To be honest, I don't think it was anywhere near as good as the Tatton Show.
We got there for 10.00am and got straight in. Left about 1.30pm and took us 20 mins to get out. Then we saw the traffic trying to get there!! OMG!!! It was horrendous - at least 3 miles in the Leeds direction. Definitely not worth the wait at that time, especially with a small person on board. I think turing around was a good decision.
The show is very messy with all sorts of cars all over the place. Seeing current reg (like 2004-2009) cars on some of the stands was a bit of a pi$$ take. Bloody Astras for instance? What's classic about them?

Took 50 mins to get within 2 miles then about the same again for the last bit at around 11.00. Getting out was just as bad. As last poster said, some real rubbish there. There were a couple of groups (I'm not naming names, but one is a sign of the zodiac) that only looked good for the gov't scrapage scheme. The bloody BMW display looked like a train station car park circa 2005.
Some lovely stuff though as well. Beautiful silver Merc Pagoda for example. Pity the owner couldn't be arsed to talk about his car. Why go and park in a field and display your car if you don't want to talk about it? Go to the coast for the day instead.
First visit to an event at Harewood. Is traffic always like that? Won't be going again if it is.

I to was stuck for 90 mins. Parked up just after Gatweays and walked in, much easier.
Great venue with completely sheeite access.
It was Ok but I won't be rushing back, not until they do something abut the access anyway.
Oh and I was loitering at the Lotus club stand looking for a sit in an Elise (to see If I can fit in one) and didn't manage to catch anyone's attention....ahh well.
I also thought WTF is a completely standard pair of Astras, and a Corsa doing in an amongst some really tasty metal, strange. There were some tasty Beemers though, my 540 wouldn't have looked out of place in that lot

Really sorry about that mate. I had another pretty tall lad sat in mine to see if he'd fit after our little cruise round the parade ring. I would have happily let you have a sit in it. Next time, hey?I had a laugh with the Lotus boys but the stands were a mixed bag to be fair. Some lovely stuff, but we were next to the Ford Cougar stand - not aspirational stuff, but it reflected a decent cross section, I suppose.
No worries mate, actually I think it was your blue one I was looking at, very nice car. They actually looke resaonably roomy.
The ford cougar stand made me giggle. Good cross section = fair share of muppets.
I had a good poke around the TVR's for sale at the other end of the ground, sat in a Griffith, Chimaera and a Tuscan, my wife couldn't beleive 13k worth of car had the same carpet used in her grans flat for door card inserts

At £6 per adult for entrance, someone (maybe Harewood themselves?) lost an opportunity to collect some real money there - considering so many people were sat in a jam. Awful, awful delays on a hot day. It really puts me off going to alot of the very promising events they hold there.
I think that if I had queued for hours to get into the car show and then seen some of the mundane stuff on display, I would either have cried or punched someone. Really, the Tatton shows are much much better quality cars and better club displays. Harewood had crud like the Elland Ladies motor club with ordinary tat!

Thanks, buddy - it is my north, my south, my east and my west. If you want to meet up to have a sit in it, look at boot space, or whatever, just let me know. I did something similar for another PH'er recently and took him out for a quick blast. Think he's saving up now for one!The ford cougar stand made me giggle. There were a few muppets, but most people seemed enthusiastic and respectful so quite a decent day out - queues excepted...

Couldn't agree more. Had been before and vowed never again. Unfortunatly the missus and the inlaws weren't aware and arranged visiting as a suprise together with watching British GP on big screen once there. They had pre booked tickets otherwise we wouldn't have bothered.I think that if I had queued for hours to get into the car show and then seen some of the mundane stuff on display, I would either have cried or punched someone. After sitting in traffic jam for 2.5hrs to get in, ( with unimpressed 6 month old ), and missing majority of GP if it was being shown, ( no idea where screen was ), I was confronted with the Ford Scorpio appreciation society, a lovely example of a mid eighties Triumph Acclaim, ( complete with awards displayed on dash top! ), a superb display of stock Merc 190 E's complete with towing paraphenalia, etc..etc..Yes there were a few nice motors there and I'm appreciative of these clubs and owners making the effort. After eating our lunch we decided enough was enough and attempted to leave to find out others around us had moved nowhere for 2 hours! The organizers were still attempting to let cars in through the same solitary entrance whilst the disgruntled masses exited! On asking the 14 year old in the high vis what she could do I was told her radio wasn't working.
I cannot get over how badly organised the event is and said organisers should be ashamed. To heavily advertise the event for fathers day and then spend absolutely nothing of the takings on traffic management or have the good will to open the rear entrances to aid access etc..is a f
king disgrace! How many famalies had their day ruined by this shower of s
t? As for the poor buggers stuck behind us on the bus trying to get to Leeds..! Edited by Edmundo2 on Monday 22 June 19:57
Jesus....The comment above re the bus has made me feel genuine remorse for anyone stuck in that lot, just to get past the Harewood house exit to go somewhere else!.....fkinn nightmare
Are the organisers of this event not accountable in law for what was effectively blocking the queens highway?
Oh and they have another means of entry exit!!!???? jesus wept, someone deserves to have the $hit kicked out of em.
