It will be used for feeding the dogs and ourselves from our land which is about 2 acres in the country so mostly for bagging bunnys and the occasional pheasant that might wander into the garden
Budget unknown as i don't know what you have to spend to get something decent

What legalities are there to owning an air rifle? Do you need a license? Where can you get them and the ammo?
My old man used to have one, and I've got a fairly long garden and have thought about getting an air rifle for target practice.
No restrictions at the moment other than age.My old man used to have one, and I've got a fairly long garden and have thought about getting an air rifle for target practice.
I would say though that if you live in a street with neighbours, you might hack them off by firing a rifle. Neighbours with young kids (for example) would be anxious about a rifle being used in close proximity - I'd understand that too....

In seriousness though, I don't live in a terraced house, so the neighbours shouldn't be a problem. What would you expect to pay for an entry level rifle, and more top end rifle? And where do you normally purchase the pellets from?

You sound well balanced; I'd go the whole hog and get a shotgun, you'll feel sooo much better...
