Might sound odd.. but hopefully the suit wearers of PH can help here!

I have a set of Loake shoes for work, and they have 5 eyelets, I like to have my shoes quite tight, and these are maybe if anything slightly to wide for my foot (we are talking ever so slightly) so when I tighten them I tend to go through laces very quickly, as the shoe needs to be at its tightest!

Is there any recommendation of type/brand etc that are very strong and will last the test?

Odd one I know, but its annoying now!

Try a chandlery, 2mm kevlar in black is what you want.

I'd sooner ask Huntley for bathing techniques.

Never quite understood this response to these sort of posts. He asked the question in 'The Lounge', which is a subsection of a motoring forum, for (and here's the really clever part) 'Non Motoring Related Topics' many of which I see you have commented on.

I would think it highly unlikely that the OP is going to go and join a Shoe-Lace forum to ask a question, which evidently could have been answered on a forum he already uses. Am I wrong? Or have I completely misunderstood the whole point of the Pie & Piston section of Pistonheads?

edited because you seem the type of pedantic so and so to pick up on a minor spelling mistake

This site probably offers the widest spectrum of knowledge I have access too. That is why I use it, be it for car info or anything else.

Is it not better that the lace is the weakest link in the chain ? Kevlar or similar would destroy the shoe sooner than expected IMO.

The eyelets are metal covered, and the tongue appears to be made of a tough leather. Not sure though.
