A little help from the South Coast PHers if I may.

What's the best route from the A3 / M25 junction to Frome, Wiltshire, assuming:
- evening rush hour traffic;
- wanting to stretch the car's legs; and
- minimise my meeting unmarked BIBs?

I should add, whilst I would prefer to do the route on roads such as thejimreaper's hoons driving, I haven't got the time to do the whole thing like that!

Would be very happy to avoid the M3 but not a must.

Thanks thumbup

A3>A272 Petersfield>Winchester, then across the A30 to Salisbury,and a short hop up the A36.Unless you want to divert from Salisbury and go up the A360 to Shrewton then across the B390 although it'sa little longer.

Good luck

Go via Shrewton, the A36 past Salisbury is really slow. The only dual carriage where you can get past stuff is a 50 zone. Shrewton might be longer/not quicker but is more fun.

A303 - Stonehenge - Shrewton A360 & across to Knook Camp nr Warminster. It's good route but popular with motorbikes so watch out for our friends in blue..

You could head down the A3, take the A31 to Winchester, then the A272 to Stockbridge & then the A30 to Salisbury & then across the plain..

A303 past stone henge, you will cue cue cue. you can go round the back lanes and it'll prob work out quicker. Tell the satnav to avoid that section.

As it turned out with 30 miles of traffic on the M25 and the A3 seemingly blocked after Guildford, I was very grateful for the suggestions! I ended up mixing up many of the suggestions and the route was traffic free! The route along the A30 to Salisbury and then the A360 / Bxx90 through Chitterne were excellent driving

Thanks again!
