Was at the Kings of Leon gig on Tuesday and noticed a guy crowd surfing who got passed to the front and grabbed by security and escorted off somewhere.

I just wondered whether security usually kicked them out of the venue or just let them back in at the back of the crowd.

Anyone know? Anyone do it?

Matt..

Haha, that reminds me of this 'news' story from earlier in the year:

Depends on the venue and how packed it is. You don't get chucked out, you get let back in either through a manned gap in the barrier at the edges, or taken back round to the regular entrance.

They push you to the side and you rejoin the crowd at the back / side

They get lead round to the side then "released" as such, they can then rejoin the crowd at the side.

I did it a couple of times at Rage Against the Machine in the Liverpool Royal Court back in '92. fking awesome it was. Happy days!

As said, passed to the front then back in round the back to start all over!

A mate had a go once... made it about 3 rows infront of us before crashing to the floor on a pile of people who didnt notice his bulk coming over there heads.

Oh how we laughed.

I vrowd surfed a few times at gigs, every time they just let me down and told me to go to the back!!! Crows surfing in a tuxedo(uni summer ball) is a bit dodge, haven't got the range of movement needed for such a task...

bloody good though!!!

Done it plenty. Normally the bouncers pull you off the crowd and escort you to the edge so you can rejoin and start again.
Worst one was at Cambridge corn exchange; I went over the front but there was no bouncer to catch me and as I was going head first I ended up falling forwards and crushing my todger between the barrier and my leg. The 90 seconds it took me to walk from the front of the stage to the gents to check "it" was still attached were probably the most harrowing 90 seconds of my life.
All was well though, and I got straight back on top of the crowd.
I remember being at the Junction as well for a Therapy gig going crazy to the first support band (Kerbdog?) when Credit to the Nation came on. Instantly I was surrounded by a load of massive black geezers going nuts with no way out.
Fortunately one of them saw my predicament so kindly picked me up and threw me on top of the crowd so I could escape to safety.
What a nice man.

Kicked to the back generally. Will never get thrown out of the venue.

just don't expect sympathy from some of the bouncers.. they're typically keen to escort you away swiftly and sternly.

You're not wrong.

Also, make sure if you have things in your pockets, they're not to fall out.

Crowd surfing at gigs is cool, but the best place in the world to do it is actually Le Rond Point bar, Meribel.
Oh yes! I've been pressed against the roof in my snowboard kit while Superfly are cranking out "Walk Like An Egyptian"
