They're back to being made in Finland too, possibly as a kickback from the teething troubles of outsourcing the manufacturing of the Core to China!

I sent my core back after 4 weeks because the screen died. It has been 6 months now without problems. The 'Cores' don't seem to do well in the reliabilty stakes.

I've had vector and x-lander, vector was very good and that's with using all it's functions, the xlander was good but I had it on negative display (black background, clear numerals) and visibility wasn't as good, the rubber also came away from the strap pins which may justene a one off sort of 'fault'. The core was riddled by problems initially (made in china) but suunto honoured warranties and have subsequently corrected the faults for the latest gen.

I sent my Core back after six months - dead battery. Suunto returned me a completely different watch whicj I also sent back. Result - Suunto sent me two Cores - one I wear and the other is sitting in my desk at work, waiting for me to sell it on / donate it to a raffle.

Do you know if they send out brand new watches rather than fixes? Mine's one of the dodgy 8xxx serial numbered versions.

When it's working it's brilliant, perfect for outdoor holidays.

FaceWest seem to stock them in the UK.

Edit: Actually they don't seem to have the new range.

Press release says "Suunto Elementum will be available this summer in USA, Sweden and Italy and in fall 2009 in Finland, Argentina, Greece, Japan and Singapore."

Not very specific smile
