VNT overboost, Audi A6 2.5tdi...

Had my dads A6 on VAGCOM, showing up an overboost error code.
as i understand it the VNT and that the vanes are getting stuck (the car has no wastegate?!?).
Audi want £1500 for a turbo, which i'm not willing to give them (after £120 of diagnostics)
the car is a 54 plate and done 50k miles.
Any independents local to bath worth trying?

try a bloody good clean of the turbo first and foremost, these can getting shockingly sooty.

yeah pulls very well for a big old girl.
so you recon i should have the turbo stripped and cleaned first? or use some of that decoker spray?
