warming of the earth = disaster or not ?
Discussion
So....
(1) is the current warming due to man made CO2 production?
and
(2) whatever the cause, is global warming likely to be the huge disaster that the governments want us to believe?
Is there anyone who has 100% certain facts about this yet?
I find that the "millions will die" statements from the pro-MMGW crew to be very suspicious, and the government is forcing me and you to pay for it through CO2 tax in nearly everything we do these days.
Are people likely to wake up one morning and find themselves under 50m of sea?
Or is the more accurate scenario likely to be that populations will tend to gradually move away from the existing coast areas and set up camp where the new coast will form....,IF these wildly computer modelled predictions are to be believed. ie. no sudden deaths causing millions to die.
Isn't the real fact of these 'millions will die' claims more to do with the out of control world population increases?
Is anyone campaigning to control and reduce world population?
p.s.
I'm no expert in this field, just a general punter trying to make sense of it all.

But pollution CANNOT be good. Deforestation CANNOT be good. And rising CO2 is increasing acidity of the oceans which is bad for lots and lots of reasons.
I am very sceptical about South Pacific islands sinking under rising seas.. this could be happeneing for all sorts of reasons, not least tectonic plate movement.

Also, what's with the weather this year? It's been hot and all that but bloody hell it's been windy. Can we expect hurricane like weather every Summer from now on?
Well, supposedly, this recent rise in CO2 is only a blip in an actual massive decrease in CO2, that will eventually lead to the end of photosynthesis in a couple hundred million years, and then eventual death of all living things, resulting in a sterile planet.

According to climatologists, we must currently be at the best ever temp etc, as any rises or falls are terrible, and any change is a disaster. Things just happen to be perfect for everyone right now.
Arr. That be thar Anthropic Principle matey!I've often held the idea and struggled to explain it, that "isn't this universe just marvellous how everything works, it couldn't have arrived by chance, it must be billions to one" can only be brought into question by the one in a billion, as the others tend to be pond slime and rocks.

1: It isn't warming
2: Don't know because it isn't warming.
Who says it isn't warming? According to satellite and ground station data there has been a warming trend.2: Don't know because it isn't warming.

The general warming trend doesn't seem to be in dispute but I believe even the greenies can't actually prove what's driving it.

Some man-made component might be present.
The Earth goes through warming and cooling cycles. While there will be changes, I don't think a repeat of dinosaur extinction is on the books.

We are still in the middle of an Ice Age. For most of its 4 billion years of existence there has been no ice at the poles.
Exactly, how people can quote a period from 1975 to 2009 showing a warming trend is beyond me.4 BILLION years old or even if we believe the religious nut jobs who believe it is 6000 years old. But alas, the Earth has warmed by 0.8 degrees C since 1975!!!!!!!
