HI IM FROM CYPRUS AND I HAVE AN E46 M3 CONVERTIBLE SMG GEARBOX.EVERY SUMMER I HAVE PROBLEMS WITH MY GEARBOX NEARLY EVERYDAY.THE WARNING LIGHT OF THE GEARBOX TURNS ON AND MY CAR GOES TO 0 GEAR ALONE AND THEN AFTER FEW SECONDS IT COMES BACK AGAIN ON MY LAST GEAR THAT I WAS.IT DOES IT WITH ANY GEAR NEARLY EVERYDAY AND JUST ON SUMMER.WHEN I SWITCH OFF THE CAR AFTER A FEW HOURS THE WARNING LIGHT GOES OFF TOO.I WILL APRECIATTE IT IF ANYONE COULD HELP ME FOR WHATS THE PROBLEM WITH IT CAUSE HERE IN CYPRUS WE DONT HAVE MANY SMG GEARBOX AND OUR MECHANICS DONT KNOW MUCH ABOUT THEM

Low battery or perhaps alternator on the way out. The heat could be killing your battery in the boot....
order a new one from BMW... make sure its the high power one (for cabriolets)... and also get the Hyrdraulic fluid changed out. Made a massive difference to my car. Shifts like a DSG and so much smooother.
