P38 Brakes Problem
Discussion
Hi, I've had a P38 4.6 HSE for two months, but barely used it as it's had a brake fault since I bought it and the two specialists I have taken it to cannot locate the issue, despite throwing considerable £ at it. Wondered if the power of t'internet could help me figure it out..
Symptom is that the brake pedal has a strange 'stage' in it sometimes, particularly after a run on the motorway. The pedal is hard, but there's no brakes, then as I increase the pressure, the resistance goes with a 'click' sensation throgh the pedal and then the brakes apply correctly.
Any suggestions please??
Cheers.

Two suggestions
1) are the brakes completely useless when starting from cold ?
If the answer is yes it is the accumulator on the ABS
This is the black metal "bulb" near the ABS unit.
They are easy to replace and a common failure.
When replacing it switch off the engine and pump the brakes about 50 times really hard, this "should" purge the accumulator
but they never purge properly when broken. when you remove it brake fluid (lots of it) will piss out of it everywhere so wrap an old towel round the area bfore you start.
2) The calipers on these move in and out on bushes to adjust for brake wear. these bushes rust and sieze up, remove the calipers and un sieze them, clean the rust off and thouroughly grease them before replacing. (do this regualrly)
I suspect it is probably number 1 though.
