Hi,
Just wondered if anyone know how much an original RS200 would be worth? The car is number 008 and is an ex ford demonstrater. It has extensive history and has been driven by Jackie Stewart!
My Uncle has just bought it as he thought it was a good deal, but he is more of a bike man and has no idea how much its worth!
Any help greatly appreciated
Cheers
Dave

You will only get a decent answer to that question on the RS owners club site IMO. Find the forums and sign up.

Thanks, I will post the question on the RS owners club and see if I get a response!
Its not the one for sale but ill check that one out and see if they are similar. I know my uncles needs a little TLC. ITs running and is in great condition but needs someone who is passionate to go the extra mile and make it a show winner!
I think he was hoping to get £75K for it so somwhere near £100K will definately make him smile!
Any bidders? Ill forward your details too him if your interested!
Cheers

Hi
I don't want to sound stupid or am i going to ask the question everyone is thinking.....
If he has just brought the car why are you asking how much it is worth???? Surely you would have explored this before buying the car in the first place if this was for investment purposes?????

To be fair Zippy that is a great question and I think your right, If I were buying a car I would defo want to know what its worth and if its a good deal. However My unclue has a bit of cash and some 'friends' in the trade who often give him 'unmissable' deals. So far these have been on super cars which are about £10K cheaper than normal so he gets them, drives them for a few months and then sells them on for a small profit (which actually after the running costs, tax and insurance turns out to be minimal!). However this time it wasn't so easy as it wasn't a run of the mill Ferrari or Audi R8 but a RS200 and he was told it was a great deal but doesn't really know.
I know a bit about cars and thought it would be worth a fair bit, but I thought i would open it up to you guys for some advice as its always difficult to price rare cars.
Ill see if I can get some photos for you guys so you can see the condition.
Thanks for all your help so far,
Dave

Hi
If you visit rs200.org you can check your vin number against their records to make sure it is the car. Car No.8 is listed on their but they don't list any owners.
RS200's have been making from 60-100k depending on spec and what engine is fitted.
To be honest i don't think you have too many issues selling it.

Unfortunately I think he has sold it already. I have been at glastonbury all week and I have now come back to let him know the info you guys have given me and the estimated price but he has sold it.
A guy had heard about him buying it through someone else and offered 55K there and then, he came round at the weekend with a trailer and took the car, so its no longer in the family!
Thanks again for all your help and im really sorry there isn't a better ending!
Cheers

A funny TRUE story for all you RS200 lovers, makes you want to cry it wasn't you!
Back in the mid 90's, RS200's were going for about £60k'ish. A mate of mine club rallied a Metro 6R4, and this guy was his mate. He was a bit of a wheeler dealer in anything that made money at Auction, and was approached about buying an "RS200" lot in a sealed bid Auction of a repossesed estate. Totally blind, without looking at the car, he bid what he thought would bag him the car but not be stupidly low wile giving him a good margin to move it on, £40k, just days before the sealed bid auction. Low and behold, he won the auction, and went excitedly to collect his car. On arrival he was directed to a compound containing "his cars". Imagine the mild shock when he realised he had bought not one, but THREE RS200s for £40k....... i believe 2 roadgoing spec and 1 clubmans spec. Happy days indeed, 2 were sold off with a big fat profit and a free RS200....
