Hello All.

Just had a call from my Dad who has just crossed the Millau Bridge.

He's in a 2001 RS4 and whilst the car was ''running perfectly'' the engine management light came on on the dash.

He suspects this might have been because he was at an altitude of 3500 ft in central France and running on 95 Octane unleaded.

As he descended off of the central 'plateau' the light has now gone out and not being able to contact a UK Audi specialist, I thought I would ask the pH populus.

What do you all think? Is the altitude/fuel combo a likely cause of the temporary illumination of the engine management light?

He arrived in Perpignon now so no major panic, but he wants some re-assurance, as I guess we all would!

Many thanks in advance - Nico.

It is possible I suppose, but given that many mountain roads in the USA can go above 10,000ft and they have horrendous fuel quality (and after all, it is turbo charged) then it doesn't seem likely.

The peeps at RS246 will have a bit more experience in these things http://www.rs246.com/index.php?name=PNphpBB2&f...
