low oil pressure at high revs (4000rmp)

anyone got any ideas on this one? i get the oil pressure warning when i get about 4000 rmp. I've check level and its fine?? thanks

i'd guess at a knackered sensor.

I don't know where the oil pressure switch is on that model, but I suggest you find it and check the condition of the wiring to it. Do you have an oil pressure gauge as well as a warning light? That would let you confirm that you do actually have oil pressure. Until you have proved that, or found the fault causing the light to come on, you should assume you really are losing oil pressure.

I had this and it turned out to be faulty wiring with the oil pressure sender unit. Re-spliced the wire and all is well. The oil pressure sender unit is just forward of the airbox and halfway down the engine.

Hi Mike,I agree with all the above.Just to add that a little while back there were a batch of bad oil sensors around. I don't know how long you have had the car but if it's low millage you might still have one of the bad ones.Your dealer will be able to sawp it out in half an hour max.
