additional engine mounts good idea or not ?

Now that I have my engine fitted in the chassis, I discovered that the modified oil pan gives me a lot of clearance
under the engine and the possibility to install easily two silent blocks underneath the engine and screw those to the adapter plate.
It is a little scary that the hevay engine is only hold by 2 screws and the gear box support.
The silent blocks would give me a total of 5 holding points and maybe stabilize the whole drive train ?
Is this a good idea or not, see the pic

IMO, I was thinking about adding more support and brackets using the engine block as a structural piece for the rear frame. If you just dont think there is enough support on just the two engine mounts though, just think about 1000+hp camaros doing wheel stands, slamming back down to the ground and running the 1/4 mile hundreds of times. I would assume just the two mounts are just fine for the Ultima application.

yeah but,,,,,, I notice when I have taken the gbox off, you need to support the engine otherwise it drops down and you cant line up the box to put it back. Extra supports should/would stop this and make the box easier to refit..... But with the gbox in place, it isn't going anywhere, so I would say - handy but not totally necessary .

If you have more clearance under the engine I would drop the engine, will gain more in lowering the C of G than more engine mounts....
PS what Pan are you using ?? and what Oil System ??

it is my first built, so lowering the engine will be considered when everyhting is done, do not know what impact that would have on gear box, drive shafts, exhaust only to mention a few. the pan is custom made by solutionF and the oil pump is obviusly from daliey engineering, see my build site

James, most of the guys doing that in LS engined cars run motor plates often front and rear. These also often give you much better exhaust clearence (on the Camero)

True, just depends on what the class rules are. But yes you are right. My only point is that there are alot of guys that have the factory mounts and can get away with it no problem.

I look regularly too and like what I see. My build would be certainly a GTR with a LS7, so your ideas and progress are very interesting
