I am not sure if I have this option on my M5 although the back does move when you start it up (only had it 2 weeks).

I was looking through the options list on a BMW dealer website and clicked on the image of M Multi-functional Seats and it showed the picture below, although this is from my car. I don't have the buttons above the ashtray though.



Do I have it or not?

If you have the active seats there is a button low down on the facia just above the ashtray. (Next to the seat heating buttons).

This has three settings to choose from, so if you dont have the button then I think you dont have them.

On mine, you can also select seat backs to "active" when you go into the idrive settings for the M settings.

I don't have the buttons. I can feel the back squeeze me on start up though.

The side bolsters can be moved in and out on all the seats iirc and relax when you switch the ignition off - so I think you dont have the active seats.

So the motors must be already fitted. Could you retro fit the active seats?

Just thinking out aloud really.
