Just managed to stumble to my desk after a heavy night on the sauce. It was the MiL's private view of her work and whilst there I had 6 or 7 too many glasses of champers.

We then headed back to the local pub where a game of giant jenga ensued, the loser having to down a shot of everyone's choic.e

I woke up about an hour ago realising I was running late and had a quick wash and "freshen up". My eyes feel like the have kilogram weights attached to them. Should I just give up for the day already or crack open a can of relentless and hope for the best?

Nobody has yet mentioned that I look drunk/rough/hungover/ill. Have I gotten away with it? Or is everyone too flabbergasted to bother talking to me?

No one believes you're drunk on a Monday morning - the element of surprise is on your side!

Arr, someone has just loudly pondered what "that funny smell in the office is". I think I'm busted frown

It's no big deal - I do it all the time. I do often get some funny looks from the other air traffic controllers though...

Next time, phone up saying you think you have a really bad cold, headaches, vomiting, stiff muscles and the squits. They'll put 2 and 2 together, think you've got swine flu and beg you not to come in.

As long as its not every monday morning and you dont work in an environment were its a sackable offence (rail industry, firend is a project manager and they have to have less than 0.2 in blood in case they have to work on the lines/go vist), then I dont see the issue.

I have been through the hangovers at work and now prefer to have a few glasses of wine/beer, but not enough to give me any hangover as staring at a computer screen for 8 hours aint fun and I found out the hard way that being caffine hyper and hungover is a bad mix. If I get drunk its friday or saturday nights only.

Keep moving around, don't sit still for too long. Avoid others if you can - let the alcowol get out of your system. Get the coffees in. Photocopy stuff. Eat something.

People will know by now you are still in la la land. Jst try and get on with it.. not mope around or sleep. Get on with it.

Oh I wish I had done that, as a rule I don't generally drink at all on a Sunday but with the encouragement of an already drunk OH I threw caution to the wind last night. Luckily I have a huge roast beef baguette to soak everything up with at lunchtime!
