My mate has informed me he has just bought one and asked whether it needed seasoning as per a normal run of the mill wok?

Have to say I've got no idea.

It is a tefal thermospot non stick work if that is any help...

I would say that it is not required as the coating creates the non-stick surface. In over heating the wok to try and season he may damage the teflon finish and get rather annoyed.

You should never use detergent on a regular wok to wash it but in this instance, a light smearing of Fairy liquid should help to bring it up good as new.

Now go and get yourself a £7.99 steel wok from a chinese supermarket and show him what he should've bought!

Not really into cooking to be honest.

However his last non-stick wok wasn't exactly non stick when I cooked with it.

Hence the question this time around.

Dear f13ldy,

whatever it says don't even think of using metal implements, wood is good, you'll scratch it else.

I also agree with Pferdestarke's comment regarding overheating. You want the wok hot and I mean oil-smoking-hot before you start and max flame on your hob so the food fries not steams. The temperature at which non-stick coatings fail is not that far away from this!

regards,
Jet

No need to season a non stick wok, exactly the reason I bought the same tefal thermospot jobbie and it was free with Nectar points paperbag
