Plug in chips/maps for 2.7 V6 TDi

There seem to be a few out there and all offer improved mpg as well extra power.
Has anyone got experience with these on the 2.7 V6 diesel (A6 Quattro tip)?
Also they all seem to be around £400. Is installation as easy as the websites would have you believe?
And finally, are they adjustable?
