where to go for lunch near Ring - Adenau?
Discussion
Hi all
Off to the Ring next Monday for the 17.15-19.30 session via Assen MotoGP on Saturday and Spa for EuroSeries on Sunday
We'll be driving from Spa > Ring on Monday morning. Last time we went we headed straight for the track. However this time we'd like to get there in time for lunch to chill out somewhere like Adenau. Can anyone recommend somewhere in the area for a reasonable / light lunch?
We're staying and eating at the Pistenklause in the evening so lunch doesn't need to be too massive!!
Cheers,
Longers

We are doing Monday afternoon at the Ring then driving to Spa in the evening for a track day on Tuesday. Look out for us in a silver VX220

You can get a perfectly fine bratwurst und pommes at the ED station just off the main straight (Dottinger Hohe) on the 258.
Me, I go to the McDonald's in Gerolstein, which will be on your way.
Fwiw, there is a diversion on the 410 eastbound, starting near Prum. It adds about 10 min to the journey time, but brings you back to the 410, whence you can carry on as normal towards Nurburg.
Also, once you come up the hill from Mullenbach to the circuit, you will find utter chaos, as they are scrambling to complete the building works before the German GP 20 days from now.

The self-service cafe at the Nordschleife used to be good....untill they turned it into a poxy American style diner!
Better off skipping lunch as the track tends to quieten down slightly about then
As its not open til 1715 on the day in question I don't think that issue will arise ... Better off skipping lunch as the track tends to quieten down slightly about then

PistonKlause in Nurburg is the place to go, only 5 mins from the track entrance too. Oh yes, and it's owned by Sabine.
They dont open till 4pm though
PK not exactly owned by SS. Building containing hotel & restaurant owned by her mother, PK restaurant business owned, operated by Patrizio Persiani.

The PK used to be the place to go... it's now turning in to the place to go if you want to endure more BS than the anchor farm produces. And for those that are sold on the advertising!
The food isnt as good as it used to be either.
The regon around the ring has SOOOO much more to offer than a steak pizza or a steak on a stone. It's always amazed me that people will travel 500miles+ to get to the ring but think 30mins down the road to Cochem is too far to travel for food.

cant remeber the name either!.. there is one just up from the sword shop and you can watch the boats go by... or if you walk up to the main 'car park' bit and turn into the town ( away from river ) there are a few places up that road.
Also try Mayen (sp?)[ out on to the 410 from nurburg and turn left then keep going ] has a great ice cream shop!!

The reason to go to Cochem is to drive the fabulous road to there from Nurburg. The rubbish French food in Cochem is a good reason to turn right around and drive back to Nurburg. The food isnt as good as it used to be either.

There is a good Italian on the 257 between Zermullen and Mullenbach, about 3 mi from circuit, called "La Lanterna". If you'd like to try traditional German food (the gammon on the knuckle is superb), there is the Lindenhof, which is right in Nurburg village to the left of the church, across from BMW Centre.
I`d also recommend the `Comfy Corner` in Adenau. As you are driving from Breidscheid towards the town, you`ll see the Mobel furniture shop on your left, about 30yds further on, the CC is on your right. They serve salads, soup etc, I always go there at least once a trip. The owner Jorg is German, but is a great bloke.
The Burgstube (hotel at the castle carpark) serve snacks, Martin is English and Heidi speaks good English too.
The motorsport bar, just up from the BMW testcentre in Nurburg serve great salads, bloody huge things they are too !

LOL!
I bet if they opened a Maccy D's there you'd be straight down there for your "Royal With Cheese" though!?
I heard on R4 this morning that McDonalds' second-largest business in the world is in France, and that they are the largest private employer in France. It seems that the Frogs are finally catching on.
