BBWF - How many Attended
Discussion
I don't know how many attened, but I'd say 50 plus.
As for the Hotel, I didn't stay, but the facilities looked spot on, Squash courts, Pool, Golf Course, Golf Shop, etc. I did get the impression that the Hotel wasn't very up for negotiation on prices though, mind you not many are; as I've recently found out through my Daughter's wedding
. (No cerb or SEAC for me for a few years)
I think that a few people may have been put off because it is a fair way North, but we did get quite a few coming down from over the border.
In my opinion the venue was probably better than Ettington, as it's very close to a lot of tourist attractions, so there's plenty to do nearby.
Ettington, superb venue that it is, does suffer from being a little isolated.
I was chatting to a chap with an S, who was saying that they now try to organise S Club so that they are close to, or at another attraction in case the weather turns.
Just my opinion though Alan.
Ps I have to admit that I got up early on Saturday morning and took a look at the weather, and the tight Yorkshireman in me nearly made me take the Golf; company pays for the diesel and it don't leak. However how could I not take my Wedge back home to Blackpool, and pay my respects to PW with the rest of the guys. Somehow revving a 1.9Tdi wouldn't have been the same.

I will admit the distance nearly made me not go but I'm glad I did.
Luckily I have family oop north (see my other thread) which made it easier and by taking the day off on Friday I could spread it over 3 days.
Sooo glad I went although numbers were disappointing compared to Ettington, but I have been to every one so far and felt almost obliged to go

I think Ettington was better. The rooms are of a higher standard, it's better value, there's more space, the management and staff are more helpful, when we have mass catering there the food is better, the breakfasts are better, and your exhaust doesn't need welding after the event.
In terms of local attractions the class of Stratford is balanced against the grit of Blackpool, it's a personal choice ;^)
Still it was nice to see the factory, and I detected that there was some local respect when we drove around the town.

I counted 48 Wedges over the weekend or 49 if you include the White Elephant at the factory
plus 30 something lesser TVR's attended various bits of the weekend.
On balance, the venue did have a lot of facilities and was a great location for the run to the Prom and also the factory visit along with plenty of leisure facilities for the ladies.
It is just a real shame that the organisational skills of their 'Events' team left much to be desired, as an awfull lot of what had been agreed upon was not delivered without a fight! (apart from the invoices!)

The prom run was not to be missed, factory tour was great, met some nice people and some nice WEDGES. hotel was fine, no complaints from me, apart from those dreaded sleeping Pmen. I was expecting more wedges to turn up, maybe those southern of homeland BLACKPOOL could not find the road that led them there, shame on RT RACING for not turning up. But all in all had a good weekend and my 400se enjoyed going back HOME..
I wouldnt know what the hotel did or didnt do, the room was no better or worce that Ettington, the room was better priced that Ettington (didnt book under the BBFW, got it cheeper of the net) the drink was cheeper and we did get a privit bar, the bbq was good, they didnt run out of food and plenty to choose from, I do agre with the run up to the hotel was a crap even in the jag with all the speed mountains, i dont think my SEAC could have made it.
The prom run was great even in the jag getting to hear the reactions of the people over the silky pur of a straight 6
The factory toure was brill, nice peolpe interesting place and loads of cool stuff.
It is a shame more of the there wedges didnt make it up to Blackpool but this year it was much was better in the way you could talk more to every one and catch up.
