I have the E410 and think it is great. It is small and the lenses are really small for their focal length partly due to the 2x crop.
The only problem I have is with getting lenses or accessories as high street shops don't seem to do much Olympus stuff.
The main reason I got it was that it was a good deal 2nd hand and the missus wanted a small camera with a viewfinder rather than our point and shoots lcd so the 410 fitted perfectly. Haven't been disappointed at all with it.

I think you'll come unstuck with 4/3rds, and having held one if you have long fingers or big hands I wouldnt want to spend time with one
Might be fine to start off with, I'd say if you go further with wanting to shoot multiple styles you'll end up changing to Canon or Nikon for 3rd party integration
