I'm getting married next year and wanted to treat myself on the actual weekend and be able to drive myself to the church and on to the reception, and then on to the hotel afterwards in something a bit special.

I was thinking something like a Gallardo, but my god is it expensive. Does anyone have any contacts/connections or other ideas of options? Looking at things like the Gallardo or R8 seems to be working out anywhere from £1300-1700 for the weekend and it's making me wonder if perhaps I'm better off saving the money (although I was really looking forward to that).

You're probably better off posting a 'rentboy' ad in the Ferrari/Lambo forum. There must be someone there willing to 'use' you in exchange for a weekend with their car.
The money versus agony pendulum teeters in the balance.

Problem there is I'd be surprised if they'd let me drive it myself without them around smile

Don't do it.

I had a Gallardo as my wedding car and don't remember much about the experience given what else was going on that day. And I'm not even a romantic!

Can't even help with ideas of where to source one as I was able to call in a favour for mine. Closest I can think of is A Ferrari For All Occasions

I used this lot http://www.bespokes.co.uk/index_nn.htm when I got married back in 2005. Had a Sagaris for 5 days and have no complaints smile

Am doing the exact thing this weekend, pick up Ferrari 360 Spider on Friday morning, married in Poole on Saturday and return car on Monday before honeymoon. I am using www.supercarexperiences.com where Nik has given me a good deal, extra miles thrown in for free (as it does need to be collected / returned to St Albans but flying from Gatwick so not too much of an issue) and massive discount off of advertised price.

I did a lot of calling around and am comfortable that this was the best deal available.

Did you just have it for the day or for a long weekend? Did you really not get the benefits from it?

Arrived Friday AM, drove myself and best man to the church, married Sat lunchtime, drove to reception, didn't drink all day, drove to hotel. Spent Sunday giving pleasure rides to friends and family before setting off for honeymoon that eve in an S4 that I had loads more time to enjoy.

Next time I get married I'll let someone else drive me and save the supercar for a time when I can give it my undivided attention wink

As much as I'd love to do that, I'm not sure the missus (as I guess she'll be by then) will enjoy getting in it in her wedding dress biggrin

I suggest you save your money and rent an old style car that the missus can get in and out of and people will see her in. As for you as And. says you will not get the benefit as there will be too much going on to take it in. Spend it on a great honeymoon or extra weekend away.... Oh and all the best for the big day

Hi Dave, thanks for the offer but the other half desperately wanted a Mk2 Jag to drop her off at the church so I've already booked that.

Hi Gary, I can't imagine your mate would let me drive his Phantom would he? smile

Hi,

We quite often do a mix of self drive and chauffeur driven, which means you get to drive around in it before your wedding, and then a chauffeur will drive you for the wedding, or your best man if you prefer. The chauffeur then does the family runs etc.

Really generally, the best self drive prices are available from more local trusted suppliers, I'd be really wary of buying from ebay!

Our wedding package is here http://www.northernferrarihire.com/weddings.htm

Good luck!
