Evening all,

Recently joined here and for once I'm not looking for advice on my own watches! My wife is due to give birth to our first child soon and I'd like to get her a new watch for when the baby is born but need some advice.

She had always liked the Tag Link but recently has been talking about something a bit bigger like the Seamaster, so what would you guys advise? I should say - she HATES the ones with diamonds on them, which I find slightly amusing as she never complains about diamonds usually!

So, the TAG:

Omega:

What do you reckon? Am I better getting the auto Omega as I think the quartz is being phased out? Also - where am I best to get whichever from? I'm in London so getting to town isn't an issue.

Cheers,

Euan.

Without question I'd choose the Omegayes
Seconded. The Omega if it is a question of either of the 2 you mention.

A couple of hundred quid more will see you into SH Rolex territory

Thanks for the opinions! Any more?

I know I could get more SH, but I don't think she like it to be SH, and as it's for a present for the birth of the baby I'd prefer it to be new as well.

You need to give us some more info really....a budget for starters would help wink

My missus is a watch nutter and has just about every brochure available over here lol

I/we quite like this, as the two you posted are a tad plan for my missus taste

I prefer the Tag. The Omega looks more like a scaled down mans watch.

I think this type is nice and elegant for a lady, but if she likes the ones you posted, she probably wont like this:

Ah yes, budget! Don't really want to spend any more than a grand, and with the baby due, anything less than that is a bonus.

She wouldn't like that Rolex as she doesn't like yellow gold. The Christian Dior watch is a funny one. When I first looked at it I hated it, but it's growing on me.

I want the watch to be able to stand up to the day to day and not just be a special occasion watch and that's the appeal of the Omega and it's smart enough to be dressy without being too blingy! I'm slightly biased on it though as I have the mens version, albeit with a black face!

Might be worth looking at Rado if you want something a little different.
