oil filter and dry sump

just another question,
I am thinking of how to replace oil in a dry sump system without removing the AN fittings.
The idea is to use a typical oil filter holder and drain the oil over the filter opening. I would like a Peterson inline filter better but it
seems not to be very handy when it comes to oil change.
However I think I can only drain the oil from the tank when fitting the oil filter in the tank lines. The oil pump I am using has a second circuit
for the cooler and I am not sure if the oil that is in that system will drain through the pump and oil pan to the tank and then out of my filter housing ?
I know that standard LS7 have a oil filter at the engine, but also heard it is fouling with the ultima chassis.
