Barcelona retaurants

Quince Nitz (spelling?), its in the big square just off the Ramblas, was the only decent restaurant we went to when I was there a couple of months ago, pretty decent food, good service, and very good value. Be warned though, chances are there may be a big queue outside so get booked up if you can.
I'd recommend this place --> http://www.7portes.com/angles/index.htm
I really hated Barcelona when I went there, the only thing that I liked (besides the company) was the food.
The place stinks of sewage, the street urchins are at least as bad as Rio de Janeiro (got mugged twice!) and the locals are not only rude to tourists (like everywhere else in Spain) but rude to each other as well.
Tapas places in the market were brilliant, chocolate bars in the old town were ace, and we had a great meal in a place opposite the Gaudi flats (La Pedrera?) - amazing pork.

I found the opposite, but then I flew from Paris to Barcelona so the people seemed much friendlierThe place stinks of sewage, the street urchins are at least as bad as Rio de Janeiro (got mugged twice!) and the locals are not only rude to tourists (like everywhere else in Spain) but rude to each other as well.

Second/third the tapas suggestion. Amazing place.

Well I'd have to agree with you there. Paris is the only place on Earth I liked less than Barcelona. I've been to (and lived in) some so called "terrible" places - Lagos, Luanda, Karachi, Sao Paulo etc. - but Paris is easily the worst.Two for day trips
A Real good countryhouse with exceptional food and atmosphere

Chef owner also owns this in Barcelona itself

which I don't know about and one or two tapas places
Good for a coffee or sa drink with simple tapas
La Bar del Pi, piazza del Pi (not far from Ramblas just ask- grat tmoshere
And La Boqueria the food market for exactly that
Another day trip St. Sardurni d`Anoia, home of the Cava
all the big boys Freixenet, Cordoniu and so on do tours and tasting (the art deco cellar of Cordoniu is sensational)
