We have a 1 year old 330i touring and have been told the fuel pump has failed. There seem to be a few cases on Google, but are mainly for U.S. owners, and wondering how people in the UK have been treated.

a). Has this happened to anyone else?
b). Should we expect a courtesy car (as we are having problems getting one)?

Your car should be cover by BMW assist and that usually includes a courtesy car if they can't sort it there and then.

Om my 2008 E93 330i, I had my HPFP changed last month under a recall.
There was no problems with the pump and the dealer explained that it was being changed as a precaution as there was a small chance of it failing.
I would have thought that there would be plenty of pumps around, only takes an hour or so to change, so you shouild not need a courtesy car.

Apparently they needed authorization for one of the parts from BMW and that took 24 hours. When they eventually fix it I'm going to try and find out exactly what they did. We have managed to get them to give us a car from Avis.
I think the lesson to be learnt is that if the EML lights come on in future refuse to drive anywhere and demand a car replacement there and then rather than drive to the nearest dealer and get fobbed off.
Interesting that we didn't get the recall that you had.

I seem to remember that breaking down "on the road" or home means that BMW assist will recover your car and arrange a hire car - whereas a fault occuring at the dealership means they will have to provide you with a courtesy car which they may not have available.

If it happens again, push it off the forecourt, then call BMW assist wink
